Był Sobie Król - Polish lullaby

The polish lullaby entitled Był Sobie Król – that can be translated to Once upon a time lived a King is a fairytale trapped in a song. The plot is long and poetic and tells the story about a King, a Princess and a Page that lived happily together amongst flowers and dreams, loving each other dearly. But then suddenly out of nowhere a tragedy occured: The king was eaeten by a cat, the page by a dog and the little sweet princess was eaten by a mouse. But so that the child that is listening to the song won´t be too sad because of this tragedy it must know this: the king was made of sugar, the Page was made of gingerbread and the princess was made of marzipan.

The lyrics were written by: Janina Porazińska

MUTOTO - a lullaby in Swahili

Mutoto is a lullaby from Kongo, sang by Kavira Bwenge together with her two children in Swahili. The song is from our artproject Dream Peace in which we have collected five diffrent lullabies in five different languages and then matched them with an artist or art group who got the chance to reinterpret them. Music production and arrangement by: Kordian Rönnberg.
Recorded at our homestudio in Kungsbacka 2022.

The song is sang from the perspective of a mother and goes something like that:

The child is crying

It wants to drink the milk from its mother

If you will cry child – then I will also cry!

The child is crying

It wants to drink the milk from its mother

If you will be silent child, then I will also be silent!

The child is crying

It wants to drink the milk from its mother

If you´ll be happy my child – then I will also be happy!

The child is crying

It wants to drink the milk from its mother

If you will sleep my child - then I will also be able to sleep!

The child is crying

It wants to drink the milk from its mother.

DREAM PEACE

If there is anything that we humans have in common, it has to be the love for our offspring.

No matter which culture we come from, no matter which language we speak, clothes that we wear, food that we eat, colour of our skin, eyes, hair or dreams, we love our children and that love shines through the lullabies that we sing from all around the world. The stories that are captured in the songs that we sing to sooth our babies are all about hope, love, sometimes sorrow only to let the child know, that it too will pass and everything will be ok.

The idea behind this project was to record five different lullabies from diffrenet cultures and the match them with different cultural languages. I will show the documentation of each song in a seperate post since there is a lot of content :)

A Big, warm thank you to Region Halland as well as Kungsbacka kommun for financing this project.

Rum För Dans - Euphoric Residence

From left: Kordian Rönnberg, Diana Rönnberg, Rebecca Lång, Jenny Larsson and Valtteri Keinänen.

Yey!!! We have started to write new songs and poetry again!!!! I feel alive again! We are working for new material to Jenny Larssons danceshow Big Bang that will premiere at Kungsbacka Teater in march 2023! I am super excited to share them with the world soon! During two weeks in august we participated in a residency held by Rum för Dans. It was pure luxury to have a professional theater as a working place for those two weeks. Big thans to our friends who came for the super secret-sneaky sketch-show and gave us some kick-ass feedback! Now we have loads of work in front of us! We are going to explore feelings of euphoria, lust, love and the music is diverse: from rap to psychedelic rock!

Zeldas Grey Cats - a VR experience by Combi Cats

Here comes a little documentation from our sketch-world in VR that we made for the event Show and Tell at Impact House, Varberg on 29th of November 2021. The music that you can here inside the cave is the unrealesed lullaby "Zeldas Grey Cats" that we wrote and recorded when I was heavily pregnant with our daughter Zelda. The avatars that you can see are real people that participated wearing VR-headset on. The one-eyed tree is Jenny Larsson and the host for the event was Tor Palm.

Poczęcie / Conception

Article in Gazeta Wyborcza

A group exhibition Poczęcie in Warsaw’s new Prześwit Gallery. Prześwit means involving the viewer once again in the process of valuing art through a joint practice of sensual and intellectual reception of the work. It is December, the month that highlights woman as a trusting and courageous parent, and the act of conception and birth becomes the subject of collective reflection and celebration. The exhibition Conception, however, departs from the Christmas tradition, remaining only in its aura. It is the result of the personal experience of giving birth to a daughter, which brought about questions about the reality of the female body, the sense of one’s own existence, external obligations and internal callings, about the power of sexual energy, fertility, about union, the act of creation, the question of the beginning, about creation.

The cycle of exhibitions Conception begins with a yearly formula focusing on the figure of the mother, the act of creation and the creative act connected with sexuality. This year’s Conception is an exhibition of female Pantocratorists whose work, like the word “conception”, touches upon the areas of spirituality, myth, religion, ritual, sexuality and also fairy-tale. The latter field is highlighted when thinking of the exhibition as a form of celebration of birth, a meeting of female artists whose works contain wisdom that is a gift for a new existence and enables the shaping of a new social reality. An extension of the main exhibition Poczęcie is the event by creators of Prześwit, which is part of the theme and at the same time a continuation of the cyclical event Inner States showing the birth of a community of artists and the transformation of a place together with the attitudes of the artists who create it.
